We will be in Filzmoos in Sept & would like an opinion of whether to see the Eisinriesenwelt caves or the Dachstein Cave. Any thought are appreciated.

I've done both. From a strict ice cave perspective, I liked Eisriesenwelt quite a bit better than the ice cave at Dachstein Krippenstein. The formations are more impressive, and the character of the tour (which includes carrying open-flame gas lanterns) is better, too. Dachstein Krippenstein has other things to do besides the ice cave and offers nice views of Lake Hallstatt. The area around Eisriesenwelt is nice, too, but not quite as picturesque as that at Dachstein Krippenstein. Near Eisriesenwelt is Hohenwerfen castle, which could be pretty easily combined with a trip to the ice cave.
