Hut to hut backpacking

I will be in the Alps August 28-september 18. I want to do a 3-4 night hut to hut. I will be by myself, so I don't want anything too dangerous. I would like a 4-6 hour hike between huts. I would like to begin in one village and end in another village ( no backtracking). And I am a 54 year female and avid hiker. Any suggestions? I will go to any part of the Austrian, French, Italian or Swiss Alps.

I agree with John...hiking in the Dolomites is fantastic and the huts are a nice mix of old and new. Some are an hour apart and others farther...you can really customize your trip to what you want it to be.
