We are taking the train from Munich to Innsbruck and need hotel suggestions. We will be there two nights in July & I would love to stay at a hotel a little outside of the city center (closer to the mountains), with easy transportation access to get into the center of town.

Hi,
We love staying at the Gasthof Badl in nearby Hall in Tirol. Stayed 18 nights over 5 trips. Maybe 20 minutes from Innsbruck. Bus and train are near the Gasthof Badl.

We stayed at the Hotel Grauer Baer in Dec. 2017. The location was excellent - very, very quiet but almost in the center of the city - almost at sort of a back entrance to the main square. The hotel has been renovated in some areas; the room we stayed in was an older room, but still very adequate.

OK, our method is if we find a hotel we like (doesn't have to be the best) we use it again -- in Innsbruck we have stayed twice at Heimgartl, overlooking the peaceful Inn River and a doable walk to the lift up the mountain. Used a taxi from and to the train station, walked everywhere else. Both trips at Christmas so I can certify that the heat works, but no information on summer temperatures. Great, homey breakfasts.
