Hotels/B&B in Vienna

Before posting this question I searched all the posts and didn't see recommendations, maybe I am wrong, for hotels/B&Bs in Vienna. I am planning to stay 3 nights and preferable w/ breakfast included; if possible near the Wiener Staapsoper or metro station that takes me to this site.

Hi,

I would recommend Pension Suzanne, very near to the Wiener Staatsoper, ca 2mins, plus Hotel and Cafe Sacher. You're between two U-Bahn stations, Karlsplatz , the closer one, and Stephansplatz, which you can walk to on Kärntnerstraße. When would this stay take place?

Second week of October. Thanks for your reply, I'll be checking those places. Is that a safe area? I am a female solo traveler.

All of Vienna is exceptionally safe, especially the areas mentioned. I went home by myself last night at 1 am and didn't think twice. My kid has been taking the subway alone since he was 10. Most kids start doing that here when they are 7-8.

I also have stayed at Pension Suzanne and can endorse it. It is very close to the Staatsoper, and the area feels very safe. Enjoy your trip!

Hi,

The area of the Staatsoper, Pension Suzanne, Hotel and cafe Sacher, and close by the big Tourist Office and opposite it, the Albertina, is frequented by tons of international tourists, locals, and lots of solo women tourists too. You certainly won't be the only solo female tourist in that area.

@ Dave....If you give a plug for Pension Suzanne, I certainly will stay there if I am in Vienna for a short stay., say 3-4 nights. While in that area I have checked out the Pension myself. Keep plugging away at the language lessons.

Vienna is incredibly safe. I just returned and saw no problematic behavior at all. Didn't even get catcalled or stared at by men, which as a solo female traveler is the bare minimum threshold for me of "criminal" behavior, the point at which my hackles go up, and something that happens just about everywhere. The streets are also quite well-lit and you should be absolutely fine everywhere. I particularly enjoyed my later-evening (9 to 11 pm) walks through the deserted streets. St Stephens after dark, when the plaza around it empties out a bit, is magnificent.
