Hello,
I am in the early planning stages, and I am trying to find somewhere to stay for me and my son. It would be nice if the hotels were clear about offering beds that are separated. Two twin beds would be fine. Just can't find any options. We are looking to travel in the month of May (2027).
Thanks in advance!
Hi - while you're waiting for a recommendation from firsthand experience, take a look at Cocoon Salzburg? They look to have true twins...meaning there's a space between them. Rated "Excellent" on booking.com.
I think in Europe two beds is more common than here, they will push them together to form a "queen" or "king"
phred, a fair amount of the hotel photos I looked at for Salzburg with singles showed beds with two mattresses side-by-side within a single frame that would not be possible to pull apart, or located in spaces too small to be pulled apart - or only a scant couple of too-close-for-comfort inches - or with a single headboard that wouldn't really accommodate 2 singles pulled apart, etc.

cjsull, also look at the twin room at Hotel Scherer.

thank you so much! I will look into these hotels. :)
I agree, a lot of them do not look like they will pull apart. I very much appreciate the hotels that give a twin bed option.
The reviews posted on booking.com--where you can only review a lodging you've actually stayed in--can be helpful on topics like this, though it would be smart to message top-choice lodgings directly since room configuration can vary a lot within a single hotel. It is also prudent to message the hotel a few days before arrival to remind it of the twin-room booking.
We have stayed at the Alstadthotel Weisse Taube. Our room was a triple, so two twin beds next to each other and then another twin bed along another wall. On booking.com it says you can choose between a queen (2 twins together) or 2 twin beds, so you might email them to be sure. We loved the hotel and the location was ideal, IMO. This was in December 2022.
Agreed, acraven, I started with booking.com but also checked into the hotels' own websites to see if the info on booking.com lined up.
I will be traveling back to Salzburg this December as well for my 4th trip. The places I have stayed in the past are the Hotel Wolf which is a very small boutique type hotel near the old town. I have had great experience here. If trying to book online it might show that they are fully, I would advise emailing the owner because they keep a few rooms available sometimes. The owner and his family are great people and multi generational owners of the hotel. The hotel itself is several hundred years old (cant remember exactly) and I can't say enough good things about it.
The other ive stayed at was the Hotel am Mirabellplatz. Its basically across the street from Mirabell palace and near some shopping, although its a 20 minute or so walk to things like the Salzburg residenz I enjoyed staying here as they had a phenomenal breakfast.
This year I will stay at the Haus St Benedict which is ran by priests in training near the main cathedral. I dont know what to expect here but it was significantly cheaper than everywhere else.
Sorry if im to late with my response but I hope you have a great experience!
I can confirm what mikliz97 said about the Alstadthotel Weisse Taube. I am here now staying in the triple room and have friends in a twin room. While itโs not fancy, itโs plenty nice and the beds are true twin beds.
