I plan on stopping in Vienna from June 29 to July 3 on my way back from the Middle East. Does anyone have a suggestion for place to stay that is close to downtown/I think the ring.

I would highly recommend this Pensione.....

It's in a great location within walking distance to the Opera House and also the large pedestrian mall leading to St. Stephen's Cathedral. As I recall, it's also close to Hotel Sacher, so you could stop there for a coffee and Sachertorte. There was also a Vapiano Italian restaurant across the street from the Pensione, and I quite enjoyed that - https://www.vapiano.at/en .

I stayed at Pension Suzanne. The opera house is less than one block away. Across the street is the Vapiano restaurant. Buffet style, reasonable prices. In one direction you are at the entrance to the main walking area to all the busy area .Two short blocks the other way is the underground. Around the corner on the same physical block is is Nespresso boutique shop.There is also a Bipa store less than one block away. Very convenient. Try booking through the Pension directly through their website. Breakfast is extra but a good breakfast. There is an elevator. No air conditioners though. Stayed there twice.
