Hofburg Treasury tickets

I’ve been attempting to purchase tickets to the treasury at the official website - kaiserliche-schatzkammer.at (shop.khm.at) for our trip in October but I keep getting an error msg saying “We’re sorry. There was an error with payment”. It’s not my cc, I called my bank and they did not even have a record of the attempted transactions. I’ve tried using my iPad, iPhone and Windows laptop but no luck. Any idea what I could be doing wrong??

You are not alone , there have been several reports from other posters ( including myself ) that credit cards from the States , are being rejected for no apparent reason. My attempts to purchase both Austrian and German rail tickets last April ( trying four Mastercard and Visa cards were rejected )as is your current attempt . I finally was able to purchase using an available PayPal option .

Hi. fyi - from our experience, these tickets were easy to purchase when in Vienna; plenty available. Have a great trip!

One thought is to try purchasing one ticket at a time. Maybe the lower amount will go through.

So frustrating. I’ve had trouble this year making purchases from the US for both my Spain trip earlier this year and my upcoming
Austria trip. It is not the banks or Visa denying the charges.

Good luck!!

In the EU every credit card must have SCA (Strong Customer Authenticatition), but not in US.

US accounts for about 25% of all credit cards issued worldwide, but for more than 40% of credit card fraud.

There is zero need to buy this ticket in advance. No lines - you just walk up. Why create stress?

Thank-you all for your responses. We only have the one day in Vienna so had thought to pre-book but if tickets are readily available I think we will just walk up. Actually prefer this option so we can just let the day unfold but don’t want to miss the treasury.

I just did a dummy booking, and you can pay via paypal. So, that is what I would do if you want to purchase ahead of time and have your pick of timeslots.

I just had to set up a paypal account to buy my trains tickets from OBB. It’s really easy. You add your credit card to paypal and when you make the purchase, it gets charged to your credit card. It’s just a middleman with an extra level of security.
