I know everyone is different, but about how much time should I allow for touring the Hofburg Treasury and the Kunsthistorisches Museum? There are audioguides available for rental and I wonder if they are long, short, helpful?
Thank you, Yvonne

The two museums will take a full day if you really study the art and the items in the treasury.

From your other posts, I see you will be here in June, a lovely time of year here to be outside. For that reason, unless you are a serious expert on Northern Renaissance art or love looking at robes and objects from royals you have never heard of, I'd keep these visits to about 2 hours each, maybe even less for the treasury. The audioguide is helpful.
The Kunsthistorisches Museum is one of my favorites in Europe! The way the objects and art are displayed is quite clever. The rooms of paintings upstairs are just what you want a museum to be and the main staircase has paintings around the ceiling and pilasters painted by Klimpt that I could look at for hours. They have a wide-ranging collection with things from the ancient world, paintings by most of the recognizable masters (great Bruegel collection!), and a vast number of objects owned by the Hapsburgs.
I would give it a minimum of 3 hours to take a quick spin. At least 5 or 6 if you want to spend more time in any specific section you are interested in. It's quite a large museum.
Beautiful cafe at the top of the staircase...
