Hiking Pasteurze Glacer & Grossglockner

Will be traveling from Schliersee, Germany down to
Grossglockner highway and up to see Glacer for a day. Any
suggestions about hiking to the foot of the glacier?
Is that possible? I know it is receding. Thanks!
