Heuriger near Vienna

Hi all,
We are going to be in Vienna for a few days in July and would like suggestions for two Heurigers for two different evenings. My father really enjoyed some in Grinzing decades ago. Alternatively, if you have a suggestion for ones to avoid, please post that too. Thanks!

Yes, Grinzing is a tacky remnant of what it was 20 years ago. Alex's suggestions are excellent and I would add that your father might like a visit to Stammerdorf, which is likely today what Grinzing was in years past. Stammersdorf is easily reached by taking Tram 31 to the end station where it is a 5 minute walk to a long, charming street of heurigen without a tourist in sight. One of the best heuriger in Vienna is Wieninger at Stammersdorfer Straße 78. http://www.heuriger-wieninger.at/index.php?id=2&L=1

Thanks for the suggestions! We will be a party of six on Friday and Saturday evenings. Do we need to make reservations at these places or can we show up and get a table? We would probably be there around 7:30 one night and 9:30 another night. Thanks!

I would email the ones you have interest in and see what they say.

My wife and I enjoyed Schuebel-Auer last summer. It was very busy on a Friday at 6:30 and we had to ask to join a table to get 2 seats together. It was definitely filled with "the locals" so I suspect they don't bother with reservations. But it would be worth asking for a bigger party.

You can't beat the view from Weingut Weiland! (Only open on nice weekends during the season.) Easiest way to get there is to take the bus up to the Kahlenberg and then hike down to Weiland.
