Anyone experienced these in the winter? Are they open? Are they on hills that are nice Vista points for fireworks?

Are heurigen open in the winter? Some are, but you have the check the individual websites. To be honest, they are not really a winter thing.
For watching the midnight fireworks from the hills, check out Wilhelminenberg or Cobenzl but be prepared to sit out in the cold. Otherwise, find a rooftop in the city (that's what the wise people do).
