Help with Farmhouse/ Winery stay

We are going for a trip to Salzburg, Vienna, Prague & Budapest with our 2 kids. We have 6 days in our last stop Budapest and was wondering if we could spend 2 day instead in a Farmhouse/Winery before we go to Budapest. Any suggestions would be great!

Would it make sense to go to Krems /Danube area and then to Budapest?
Thanks Much!

What is the sequence of your visit? Are you going from Vienna to Prague and then back to Budapest? To suggest a place in the countryside that are 'between' your destination cities, that info would be helpful.

Are you driving, by train?

Time of year?

You might look into hiking areas instead of farm stays. An overnight in a mountain hut, maybe?

We will be going Salzburg to Vienna, Vienna to Prague and then from Prague to Budapest.
Thinking about Krems / Danube Or Tokaj/Eger area now.
Any suggestions as to what would be better to visit to easier to visit.
Thanks Much!

Hmmm. Normally it is simpler to go to Krems and the Wachau from Vienna. Your itinerary doesn't really support that without backtracking. The Wachau would fit better between Salzburg and Vienna.

So, if you are looking for somewhere between Prague and Budapest, try searching in Burgenland or the Neuseidl am See area.

Here is one site with listings:

Or maybe in Moravia.

Most American visitors want to see Salzburg, Vienna, Prague & Budapest. For whatever reason nearly nobody visits these cities in the order they are located geographically to minimize travelling back and forth, i.e. Salzburg - Prague - Vienna - Budapest (or vice versa).

I know, I wish I had researched more before booking my hotels/apartments. I would have definitely dome Salzburg, Prague, Vienna and then Budapest.
we plan to stay in Egar and then go to Tokaj winery area. We are thinking of driving from Salzburg to Vienna! so, we can stop by on our way and visit couple places. Do you think Krems /Danube area would be doable?

Thanks for your responses!

Sure it's doable.
What, exactly you choose to see in that area depends on your interests, ages of the kids, time of year, etc etc.

There is tons of info already posted here about the Krems area. Suggest you start there . .. .
