help need for stops between Berchtesgaden and Lauterbrunnen ?

We will be driving between Berchtesgaden and Lauterbrunnen, (approx 600km) late May 2017. and have 2 nights ( 3 days) allowed. we have previously stayed in Hall ( visited Innsbruck for the day) and Oberammergau ( and looked around the immediate area)
So we are looking for places to stay and visit 'quickly'. eg: drive about 2 hours each day ( 200km) and have a look around on the way etc.
(we are interested in seeing nice villages etc, but this leg of our 2 month trip is generally in 'transit' )
I put this in the Austria posts , as I am guessing it will be the most likely.

However any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Glenn,

You may want to go a little further west than Innsbruck and stop in Oetz. We stayed in the Oetz valley years ago and it's spectacular. Next stop either Feldkirch, Austria or Liechtenstein. Our very first night in Europe was spent in Triesenberg, Liechtenstein. Beautiful and remember it vividly over 20 years later.

In Liechtenstein we stayed here:

Hi Glenn,

Two smaller towns I like are Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany near the Zugspitze (2.5-3 hours from Berchtesgaden) and Appenzell, Switzerland, a small, traditional town in Eastern Switzerland (3 hours from Garmisch). Either or both would make fine stops on the way to Lauterbrunnen.

Good recommendations previously.

I'll add one of my favorites, Flumserberg in St. Gallen canton. It consists of several interconnected hamlets on a mountainside, sort of like Mürren and Wengen but with automobile access. The recommendation isn't really for the town itself, but rather the easy hiking opportunities. If you take the lift to the top of the mountain (or you can walk up), there's several kilometers of nearly flat hiking trails around the mountain summit.
