Hellbrunn and Mirabelle in Salzburg

Hi,

I have booked a Sound of Music Tour with Fraulein Maria’s bicycle tours. Both Hellbrunn and Mirabelle are included in the tour. Will this be sufficient or do either these warrant a separate visit in my own? I’m kind of thinking “yes” for Hellbrunn and “no” for Mirabelle unless I decide to attend a concert there.

I did the SOM via HoHo bus, which allows you to get off and spend as much time as you want at these places--I just walked the gardens at Mirabell, so not more than 30 minutes for that. Hellbrunn was beautiful and had a wonderful guided tour of the extensive gardens with their grottos and trick fountains, inside the house, and there was also an interesting folklore museum up a hill. I spent perhaps 2.5 hrs there. I was much more interested in getting back to Salzburg proper and exploring old town and touring Mozart's birthplace.

Hi Julie,

I did the bicycle tour in 2017 with my spouse and teenage kids and we all loved it. Seeing Hellbrunn and Mirabella during the tour was sufficient for us.

It's a great tour that takes you all over Salzburg. We elected to pay extra for a private booking since there were 6 of us, and some people weren't as interested in the SoM experience as I was. ;)

5 years later, everyone recalls it as one of their favorite experiences.

If the bicycle tour does not include the tour of the trick fountains at Hellbrunn, then you will want to go back.
