Heat/AC control

Hello!

We are traveling to Vienna (from Virginia) in mid-November. One of the hotels we are looking at (a Marriott) states that the hotel controls room temperatures centrally, to better the hotel's environmental footprint (and likely keep costs down). We prefer a cooler room, so this is a concern. Is this normal for Vienna, or a quirk of the hotel?

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Lauren

Absolutely find a hotel where you can control your room temperature. While some people may be fine with 80F others might prefer 65F. The ideal sleeping temperature for adults is 60-67F.

That is not unique, but it isn't everywhere. Find another hotel - perhaps an older one with temperature control in the room and windows that open.

I have run into about everything regarding hotel rooms, in addition to centrally controlled. Some have controls, but only allow a limited range, never very cool, but also not very warm. Others have controls, but no cooling outside the Summer season (pushed due to energy shortages after Russia invaded the Ukraine), many though have the mini-split units that you can fully control, heat or cooling.

Without talking to the hotel, you just really do not know. One thing my wife has started doing, is packing a small USB powered fan, to her, moving air is more important than actual temp sometimes.

mid-November

I would expect the room to be keep cooler, rather than warmer, for American tastes. If you were going mid-August I would expect the opposite.
