Graz - Best Neighborhood to stay in

Hi All,

I am planning a trip to Graz next month (May), and will be there for a week. I did a search for neighborhoods, and Lend seems pretty cool, but perhaps a bit far to walk from the center - as my preference is to walk rather than take public transportation. Curious to know where you've stayed, and what your experience was.

Thank you.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I hadn't mentioned, but I am looking for an apartment to rent, which gives me the opportunity to cook.

Thanks again and have a great day!

It strongly depends on where in Lend you are. If you are next to "Lendplatz", you are in the city center in about 10mins. The area of Lend, most people call "pretty cool" is more or less east of that square (north and south), but the district actually stretches to the main train station and beyond, which would then be a 30min walk or more to the city center (or 10-15min by tram).

Thanks Blackdog,

I'm looking into an apartment that's right on Lynch Platz – on a busy street. Unfortunately I don't have the address, as I haven't booked yet. The apartment looks nice – but I do have some concerns about noise.

I was already wondering, where that Lynchplatz might be, in German that sounds more like "square where executions happen" :-D

If you are at Lendplatz, its really just a short walk to the city center, no matter where exactly you are. The reason why the area is so trending is that on Lendplatz itself, there is a market in the morning, where farmers sell their products and after they leave, parts of the area has caffees with big outside sitting areas, in summer sometimes with small scaled live music as well. North of it there is a restaurant called "Wildmoser", that also has a nice outside area under shady trees. Going south, several rather "hip" bars are located.
To be honest, it is not too special in my opinion, but as it used to be some kind of (very small) red light disctrict centuries ago, some people might feel a different vibe there

@blackdog

Interesting - big difference between Lendplatz and Lynch Platz - really have to triple check voice activated messages (-:

The farmer's market sounds fun, as does the live music, but not much of a morning person - plus I could use some quiet - still - hanging on the fence. Trying weigh price point, location, an quality of the apartment. Too much thinking! Need to go back to trusting my gut.

Really appreciate your feedback.
