We have two partial afternoons free in Graz. I wish it was more but our tour is headed each day to Lippizan horse farms. To make the most of the little time we have, does anyone have recommendations what to see? There is an Armor Museum (Landeszeughaus) that sounds interesting. My travelling companion is looking for Swarovski crystal and I saw a shop online in old town. Both are walking distance from our hotel.
Thanks for your help.
Graz really doesn't take long to see. The Altstadt is rather compact and you can see most of it on foot within 3 hours. I wanted to see the armour museum, but couldn't fit the timing in. You'll want to see the view from the top of the Schlossberg. Nice bit of exercise getting to the top (I can't remember if there's a funicular).
Besides the Landeszeughaus (Armory) and the Schlossberg, and perhaps the Dom (Cathedral) and the "double spiral staircase", I would suggest stopping out at Schloss Eggenberg, which is located on the western edge of the city. But just strolling around in the Altstadt is enjoyable.
The Schlossberg does have steps and a funicular! There is a beautiful view of the city!
