Please recommend some good--not too expensive--restaurants in Salzburg for me when we take our trip in ten days.
Our favorite -- Alter Fuchs (Old Fox) across the river from the old town. Traditional Austrian, not expensive.
Yes to the Old Fox (Gasthof Alter Fuchs) Linzer G. 47-49.

You may try St. Peter, the world's oldest restaurant, more than 1200 years in operation:

I absolutely loved Restaurant Brunnauer. The service was impeccable and the food exquisitely presented. Best to make a reservation. As i left at dusk, the views of Hohensalzburg Fortress all lit up were beautiful. You might be able to book a table with that view. Have a wonderful time, cheers Virginia
Whoops its not a cheap restaurant -moderately priced.
Stiegkeller is a nice view, good service and great desserts.
I never go to Salzburg without a stop at the Augustiner Bräustübl Mülln. It is in the RS Guidebook. It has great beer in wooden casks with a selection of food vendors in a gemütlich setting. It is a delight.
I can second the recommendation for St. Peter Stiftskeller...it was really, really good. Not sure about inexpensive, but not break-the-bank either. Kind of cool to know you are eating at the world's oldest continuously operating restaurant....
For inexpensive, really good food, I highly recommend the Cafe Wildermann in Old Town. The owner is a larger-than-life sort of guy, the ambiance is pretty open and energetic, and the food (I had a mixed meat plate) delicious. But the real star here is the Apple Strudel...it is simply wonderful, and brought tears to my eyes as it reminded me of the strudel my paternal grandma used to make (German heritage). The owner said the recipe has been passed down for many generations....

Thanks for everyone's input.
We returned from our trip three days ago.
We did eat at St. Peter's (good, but expensive)
We also ate at the Augustiner Braustubl.
All the food we got was just fine. The day we ate at the Augustiner Braustubl there was a Krampus celebration and our beer hall was invaded by actors dressed up like Krampus. It was huge fun.
