We were going to Soca Valley on our way to Salzburg but the weather tomorrow does not look good. Thinking of heading to Salzburg but would like a stopover for a night, any ideas? . We like hiking, and small towns. Thanks!

How about a thermal spa?
I would recommend Bad Gastein or Bad Hofgastein in Gastein Valley. Many hiking trails and 2 thermal spas in the valley.
Easy to reach by train. If you are traveling by car, there is a train from Mallnitz that transports the car through the tunnel into the Gastein Valley.
