Forget what you know - here’s where to find good coffee in Vienna

Of course everyone knows Sacher, Demel and Central. Their cakes and strudel are on point, but the coffee? Meh.

If you want to try some great coffee, have a look at this list, which was recently put together by a local English language online magazine - https://viennawurstelstand.com/guide/specialty-coffee-in-vienna/?fbclid=IwAR3RGE5wwVAlWpIU_OYSBmVkeS9lHgRgIxi3oahDKwpHPlwFMB8Fc0o_7xg

Many of these spots are in lovely neighborhoods that you probably wouldn’t explore. But they are worth exploring. Balthasar is a personal favorite for their Chai Latte and Swedish buns. Kaffeefabrik is on the recently pedestrianized Otto-Bauer-Gasse, just off of Mariahilferstrasse. Many other cool places on that street, including Café Jelinek and L’Amour du Pain, as well as cute shops.

Emily,

From the 6., I've plans to spend most of the time outside the 1. Thanks for pointing out this new caffeination guide from the folks at V-Wurstelstand: locations added to the list!

If Swedish buns are the goal, I might have a place or two to recommend :-) Not in Vienna though…

Thank you! I patronized quite a few of these cafes. Their coffee is great.

Badger - I can also tell you where to get the best hummus, Pad Thai, kebab, pizza and croissant in Vienna. I also loved eating Wienerbrød in Denmark.

pizza and croissant in Vienna?

Hummus (and heavenly pita) - Neni am Prater
Pad Thai - Mamamon
Kebab - Ferhat Doner
Pizza - Pizzeria Pozzuoli or I’ll Sestante (location!)
Croissant - Parémi (also a huge fan of the Laugencroissant from Anker, a pretzel/croissant mash up)

Best Sandwich (bonus) - White Pita from Miznon
