First trip to Europe - connecting flight in FRA question

Hello! Heading to Europe for the first time for My Way Alpine Tour that begins in Austria. Departure is from the US with a connecting flight in FRA with only two hours before final flight to SZG.
Is FRA easy to navigate without having to take shuttles? Flying Lufthansa.
Will we be diverted through Passport Control at FRA or at final destination in SZG?
If Passport Control is at FRA, will this take a significant time in lines, etc?

Thank you! Trying to prepare as best as possible. :)

You will go through passport control at FRA.

Two hours should be plenty of time.

If this is on one ticket, and you miss the connection, the airline has to put you on the next available flight at no extra charge to you.

Connecting in FRA has been very easy for us. You will go through passport control in FRA. The last time we landed there, it was less than 25 minutes from the time the plane touched down to the time we were through passport control. And we were in economy, so nowhere near the first people off the plane. No worries.

I transited FRA (also on Lufthansa) on my way to Berlin in March and I did have to take a shuttle to get to my connection. I don't remember passport control taking long, but waiting to board the shuttle did take a while.

Frankfurt can be a very clogged airport.

Don't be surprised if you have to take a bus from your arriving flight into the terminal
to make your connection. Don't be surprised if you have a fairly long walk to your
next flight. But both your flights should be in Terminal 1, the Lufthansa terminal. It's
big, though.

There is also a good chance your connecting flight will involve a bus out to the plane
(Frankfurt is short of gates, so they use tarmac as gates). So don't get to the gate with
1 minute to go, as the last bus out to the plane will have already departed.

Having said all that, since (assuming) your flights are on a single ticket, 2 hours is plenty
of time.
