I know is touchy topic and I have looked at historical data, but will ask anyway…What are people’s experience with October hiking in this general area in recent years?
Precisely for me would be early to middle of the month.
Trying to decide if Austria is safer choice vs Slovenia (Triglav NP) for this time of year.
We were in Ramsau am Dachstein end of September 2024. A mix of sun and rain. Some bouts of heavy rain. From the pics our rain jackets looked like standard attire. People were hiking though in all the weather. We had the Schladming-Dachstein Card with the hotel, that gave us most bus and Bergbahn trips free. We'll be at Lake Bohinj the second week of September this year. As you can tell the straight line distance is just @100 miles north/south. I expect the weather to be similar.
