Farmhouse B & B near Salzburg?

I will be traveling to Salzburg with my niece and sister-in-law in June. I don't know if we will have a car or not. My niece REALLY wants to se the Sound of Music country. We were thinking a farmhouse B&B would be nice. Can you recommend one in or near Salzburg? Rick Steves mentions them on his DVD, but didn't give the name of one in particular. Thanks!

I have stayed at Haus Ballwein, on Moosestrasse, several times. Lovely accommodations with a beautiful buffet breakfast served by Frau Ballwein in the morning. While we did have a car, we left it at the B&B and took a 15 minute ride into city center. It was perfect. A quiet and lovely stay at a B&B and the easy access to the city.

Thanks for your advice:) I tried Haus Ballwein and they are booked already for my dates. Has anyone tried the Sallerhof? It's about 35 min. outside of Salzburg by bus. Or the Broberger? It's a bit closer, about a 15 min. bus ride.

There are many farmhouses and B&B's to stay in around Salzburg.

We stayed in one many years ago, and caught the local bus into the city to visit the sights. I don't remember their name, however.
You could look on Tripadvisor.com and sign into hotels--click on B&B's. Or, go to Booking.com looking for B&B's and smaller accommodations.
Salzburg (and Austria in general) is one of those places where virtually all rooms are incredibly clean and decent places to stay. We find the city to be very guest orientated and just about everyone you run into acts like a tour guide.

I suggest this website which is in English and allows you to search all farms offering accommodation as well as make reservations. It is a very popular website in Austria as farm stays are very common here.

Pam, here's a small hotel/B&B (award-winning on TA) that we enjoyed staying at a couple of years ago - Bloberger Hof (http://www.blobergerhof.at/en/); located at the far end of Salzburg you'll be in the shadows of the Alps. Without a car you'll have a bus into the city located right outside of the front door. Why don't you contact the owners and ask them about exploring the area for an authentic SOM experience (IMHO - skip the SOM tours and look into an alternate mechanism to get out of the city (i.e., rent a car for the day).
