Extending stay in Vienna. Looking for a reasonably priced hotel or Airbnb.

I arrived in Vienna on Thursday, late afternoon. Of course, tourism is down, but as this is my first time here, the city feels alive. I was originally planning to stay until August 19th, but am loving the city and want to spend a few additional days. I'm looking a reasonably priced hotel or Airbnb, as the place I'm staying has been through Home Exchange, and my booking is up on Wednesday. Ideally $300 or less for 4 nights, including taxes and fees.

Thanks so much!

We stayed at the hotel city central. W quick walk into the city, on the other side of the river.
Reasonable rates, very clean.

We stayed at Motel One Wien Hauptbahnhof after our RS tour last October. It’s right across the street from the main train station so very convenient for transport options. Plus it was cheap and super clean.

A couple years ago, i stayed at Hotel Zipser which is right in your price range including breakfast. It is near the Rathaus metro stop; good location for walking and transportation, a number of restaurants nearby. Many rooms have a balcony on a leafy inner courtyard. Some rooms had air conditioning and some not.

I'm a big fan of Motel One (Claudette's suggestion), but the prices are a little more than what you are hoping to pay. Prices IN EURO at the various Vienna Motel One locations for 1/2 adults starting 19 Aug for 4 nights...

  • Motel One West Hbf -- 324/385
  • Motel One Staatsoper -- 324/426
  • Motel One Hbf -- 324/385
  • Motel One Prater -- 283/344

I had booked rooms for relations of mine here:
https://wimberger.arcotel.com/en/
Modern rooms, very good breakfast, reasonable prices (within your price range).

The hotel is right at a major public transport interchange hub (metro U6, trams 6, 9, 18, 49), so you can get from there easily to anywhere in the city.

Thanks for your replies and suggestions. I checked on the hotels and the rates have gone up at most of the locations. I did find a two star hotel a few minutes away from where I'm staying that might be an option - the Kolping-wein-zentral. Reviews are mainly good, but there have been complaints about poor Internet and the rooms being hot. Will see if I can take a look tomorrow.

Thanks again for your help!

Hotel Austria, in the first district, has a room for $312 for 4 nights including breakfast on booking.com for your dates. I'd stay there, no question.

Hi everyone,

Thanks again for your replies. I booked three nights at the Hotel Koplinger on Gumpendorfer Strasse in the 6th district. The economy rooms for single use at, €37 a night (up from €35 two days ago), have been renovated, and come with a double bed, private bath with shower, TV and a full breakfast. It's a great location - close to Mariahilfer Straße, and within walking distance to downtown (about 30 minutes). It's a safe neighborhood with plenty of transportation options, supermarkets, cafes, etc. Can't be beat. The low price may be due partly b/c of the downturn in tourism, but definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something economical.

Happy travels!

That sounds excellent, Theresa, and I expect to be in Vienna within the next two years, so it's going in my notes. Thank you.
