Extended stay in Vienna ideas for things to do

My husband and I are excited to be spending the fall semester in Vienna, with free travel times during the three months to other parts of Europe. While my husband teaches classes and the students are occupied, I'd like to take classes of some sort. Maybe cooking, baking or painting. Any ideas? This is the chance of a lifetime but I'm unsure where to start looking.

We did something similar in a German speaking country years ago and I took a language class. It was a much better and different experience than the college and adult education classes we'd previously had in the U.S.

I also signed up for university sponsored lectures and field trips that were regularly offered.

As a family we went somewhere every weekend and holiday.

Best time ever! Enjoy your semester.

In Vienna and the immediate environs are numerous museums and historical sights which you can track down, some of which I've done...day trip to Baden bei Wien, Wiener Neustadt, Deutsch Wagram, Graz, or Eisenstadt in Burgenland. You do have an unique opportunity, all the more so if you're into the history. Week-end trips to Linz (very historical both pertaining to the war and the 19th century) and Bad Ischl near Salzburg can be done

Thanks for the responses. Just so you know, we do plan to get to know Vienna well and are able to take most weekends to travel and have a few extended trips - 1 planned and 1 yet to plan. I'm going to look into the classes that were mentioned ( not the German language, just doent interest me)
I'd love more info if anyone has it.
