Experiences with advanced tickets in Vienna

Do you need to get tickets well in advance for Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna? It would be nice to wait at least to see what the weather will be like before getting tickets so that we can enjoy the gardens as well, but don’t want to risk not being able to get tickets if we wait.

Are there any other sites in Vienna that it’s recommended to get tickets well in advance?
Thanks!

I never purchased tickets in advance for sights like Schönbrunn or one of the big museums. in the worst case you might not get an immediate time slot for entering, but there are numerous things to see and to do in the meantime when waiting.

I've read suggestions to buy rhe Upper Belvedere ticket ahead of time. It's a timed-entry sight. I don't think it sells out way in advance, but it seems the line can be problematic.

I believe the Vienna Boys' Choir and the Spanish Riding School show tickets are tough and require very early purchase, but I think both take the summer off. (Neither of those much interests me, so I may have the details wrong.)
