etias

We will be in Lucern and Salzburg from 10/01/2026- 10/08/2026. I am trying to figure out how the ETIAS rules will affect us if it rolls out in the 4th quarter of 2026. We will arrive in Murren on 09/23/2026 and leave Salzburg on 10/08/2026. If anyone has advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Don't worry about it too much.

September would still be 3rd quarter, it only applies for your entry, not while you are there.

If it does roll out as early as September, you will have plenty of notice, your airline will contact you, you will just go online answer some questions, likely scan your passport, maybe take a picture, pay a fee, and most people will be good to go.

ETIAS has not yet been implemented. They are rolling out EES the entry and exit system at the moment. Which happens at the airport.

ETIAS will follow at some point but not yet. This will be done on line when it is introduced.
Very similar to the Esta needed for the USA.

There is no guarantee that ETIAS will come out in the last quarter of this year. It has been postponed numerous times over the last three+ years.

When it does come out, you will get plenty of notice.
