Economical transport options in the Tyrol Area

Hi All,

My wife and I are planning a short visit to the Tyrol Region on the way back to our country after a trip to the dolomites in northern Italy. Our schedule is as follows:

  1. Arrive at Jenbach by train from Trento on 11.09.2026.

  2. From Jenbach take a train or bus to our Airbnb in Rotholz.

  3. On the next day we will visit Rattenberg.

  4. On 13.09.2026 we will take a train (hauled by steam locomotive) for a trip to the Achensee Lake which will include a 2-hour ferry ride.

  5. On the next day we will visit Reutte primarily for a walk along the long suspension bridge there.

  6. On 15.09.2026 we will travel to Vienna Airport to catch our return flight home.

I need some guidance about the following;

  1. Whether we could benefit from any bus / train pass that would cover our journeys as mentioned above more economically (and conveniently) than by buying individual journey tickets.

  2. Whether the bus / train tickets can be bought on board without any surcharge, i.e in case it would be cheaper to buy individual tickets.

  3. Any special tips that would help us with our travel.

Regards

Normally in Tirol you should get a Guest Card from your accommodation. With that use of local public transit is free.

Slo just buy a ticket Trento - Rotholz for your arrival day, and another ticket Rotholz - Vienna for your departure day

All these tickets can be bought on www.oebb.at.

Note that the trip planner on the OBB site can be used to plan all the way to your accomodation, so just enter the street address of your AriBnB and see what it suggest you need to get there from Trento.

Thank you for your reply. My Airbnb host can provide a card only for the Schwaz Region (pardon me in case I have mis-spelt this) which may, perhaps, not suffice for my requirement. What I am looking for is the equivalent of Saver Day Pass or Swiss Travel Pass of Switzerland which gives maximum flexibility and best prices.
