You may take bus J direction Nordkette from a stop in front of Sillpark shopping mall, or any bus stop in Museumstrasse or Marktgraben. Bus J will bring you at the base station of the cable car (Hungerburg). Tickets available from tobacconists, vending machines or, with a small surcharge, from the bus driver.
As an alternative, walk to the base station of the Hungerburg funicular, in Rennweg past the Hofburg, the opera house. The station is underground by the congress hall; the funicular climbs to the base station of the cable car as well. It is more expensive than the bus but the architecture of funicular, designed by the late Zaha Hadid, is spectacular.

I believe this is the route we'll take. It sounds amazing!
I noticed that Google does not allow street view in Innsbruck, but perhaps that is the topic of another thread.
As far as I know, due to privacy concerns, Google cars were not allowed to shoot images in whole Austria.
