We will be in Innsbruck for 4 days and plan to hike most of those days. Is it possible to reach hiking areas with public transportation or is a car better to have? Parking will be a slight issue but have that figured out with our AirBnb host if we do rent a car.
Hiker's paradise is the town "Seefeld in Tirol" above Innsbruck, i.e. elevation 4000 ft, providing 100+ hiking routes of different length and severity.

Seefeld can easily be reached by a scenic train ride from Innsbruck.
and the funicular in Seefeld in Tirol is easy to get to be public transport
The Stubaital is 1/2 hour plus bus ride from the Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof. Multiple lifts and opportunities.

We used the funicular, easy walking distance from old town Innsbruck, and had a fabulous hike, which included beer from one of the many "huts" on the trails. Definitely no need for a car.
Thank you all so much for the above information. We love using public transportation as it always adds to the experience while in Europe. This is exactly what I needed to know. Thanks again!
