Day trip ideas for February?

We will be in Vienna for 4 days and are interested in one day trip. Ideally for a half day, or up to 8 hours. We will be heading on to Budapest and Prague, so don't want to do those. We love wine but not sure if that would still be doable/worth it in winter. Open to suggestions...

Saw your same question on TA. For half day/8 hours, I suggest Bratislava, Schloss Hof, Melk Abbey, Kreuzenstein Castle, Brno or Sopron.

If you are moving on to Budapest next, use the time in Gyor / Pannonhalma Archabbey on the way to Budapest (same train route) so you don't loose any time back tracking on a day trip.

If you are going to Prague next, use the time in Cesky Krumlov.

And most of are more fun than the TA crowd.

You would have to check with the local tourist offices or Winzer for opening times and surrounding places to stay and transportation. I would say Weißenkirchen in der Wachau or Rust am Neusiedlersee. Honesty I would plan an overnight. Times can get pretty good. An alternative outside of Wien too would be in Wiener Neustadt like Weingut & Heuriger Piribauer. Again check opening times and make reservations.
