I am planning to spend three days in Innsbruck. What excursions do you recommend to alpine villages or other scenic areas? Also, someone I talked to said three days is too many and I should spend one night in Salzburg instead. I'd welcome your suggestions. Thanks!
Been to both and Salzburg the easy winner between them.
I'd take the short train trip up the cliff to Seefeld in Tirol, then the funicular from there and walk
bummer
Maybe a stretch to the east and Ötz. Take the Acherkogelbahn up. A short walk to the Kühtaile Alm. Relax and enjoy. Hopefully good weather. For me a good mountain refill is worth it.
Edit: Sorry but the direction from Innsbruck is West! Worth a visit. Experience the mountains in Austria.
Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions! I'm so glad I joined this forum.
Standard train to Jenbach, switch to steam cog wheel train to Achensee and then steamer to Pertisau. Not much to do there but the trip is entertaining.
The Innsbruck cable cars are the quickest accesses to alpine areas
I like very much the plateau around Igls and the surrounding villages. Easily accessible trough urban bus J or tram 6 (the trip in tram is quite entertaining).
