Danube day cruise to and from Vienna

My wife and I are interested in a 1/2 to full day cruise on the Danube around Vienna. I found a full day cruise to Melk Abbey that looks nice. Thoughts on this particular cruise or other ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

General consensus on this board is that the bit of the Danube around Vienna is not very interesting. The usual day trip is to take the train from Vienna to Krems an der Donau, cruise to Melk, see the abbey, and then get a different train back from Melk.

Melk is one of the great sights in EU. Correction, Melk is THE top sight in EU. Best done by car. You can rent a car in Vienna near the west train station and more or less be on the road along the Danube to Melk. With car in the Wachau, see the Pilgrimage Church Maria Tafrl before Melk. Maria Tarfl will dazzle you, until you see Melk. Maria Tafrl is where Prandtauer practiced before he did Melk, and Melk blows the dazzling Maria Tafrl out of the water. Maria Tafrl (views of the Danube and the Alps). Also stop in Krems. Durnstein, not so muchp
