Cute Austrian Village for Quick Stop in Route while driving

Next month we are going to be driving through a part of Austria (never been)
While we hope to return to Austria some day (Hallstatt, Vienna, Salzburg are all places I would like to see) but on this trip we have no spare days/nights so merely driving through since it is faster to drive into Austria on our drive from Ortisei in the Dolomites to our next destination Lake Bled in Slovenia.
Don't have the time to make this a scenic drive.

Route is on Highway 100 which looks start at the Italian border as SS49 in Italy and then later connects with I assume larger highways A10 and A11 before crossing into Slovenia.
Since we will be driving through I thought it makes sense to stop into a town for a quick view, short stroll along the way to stretch our legs and break up the drive without extending it more than 30 minutes.
if we choose to have lunch at this town or elsewhere in route I am not considering that part of the 30 minute break.
Is their a way to see a cute tourist village without going far out of our route.
Does not need to have places to eat.
Time out of the way is important. I am resisting my internal brain wanting to go to the Grossglockner since we will be driving so very close but it really would make this a long day journey and I am trying my best to avoid that. Likewise we are bypassing many possible nice stops in the Dolomites in route as I want to start the ride early and reach Bled mid afternoon not evening
This would be a week day not weekend if that matters.

Any picturesque towns that are in-route for us to get off the highway and have a quick look to at least say we saw more than just the highway when in Austria?
There seems to be quite a few castles in southern Austria, while I don't want to spend an hour visiting inside one just driving by one or seeing one walking not too far away would be cool.

Complete guess on my part but it looks like Highway 100 is fairly scenic entering Austria and remains so at least until entering Leinz??? A10 & A11 I assume are not at all scenic.
Seems like I could go 111 instead of 100 and that way skip entirely A10, 111 connects to A11 but is a little longer timewise that way.
Would only do this if 111 was more scenic by a good amount or a town on the road preferred as quick stop but may also allow us to save not getting a vignette?
I know I need a vignette for highways, for A10 I assume it is required but do I need it for 100 and 111?
Also on A11 the final stretch into Slovenia do I need a vignette or is this a toll stretch where I don't need a vignette?

Looking on a map we pass through the following towns if this helps:
Strassen, Lienz, Villach ; I am sure there are other towns but hard to tell on a map what is a town and what is not sometimes.
The Seeboden edge of Millstatter See does not seem out of the way, the rest of the See I think too far to venture.

Doing a little of my own research it looks like the town of Lienz will be hard to beat.
Directly off the road we would be traveling on (100) it appears.
Looks to have a main pedestrian zone of a couple of blocks which will likely make good use of a 30 minute stroll and has shops and places to eat a quick lunch while there as well.

Only downsides are likely it requires paid parking and looks similar to town of Ortisei which we just would be leaving.
Something a little more quaint might be better but than might be too small?

I am not familar with Ortsei but I have stayed in villages near Lienz. They are very small so may not be to your liking as you might be more interested in small towns?

Lienz itself is lovely with the beautiful Lienzer Dolomiten in front of it and farms up on the hillside opposite the mountains. Parking is not that expensive but can be very busy in summer months but probably not next month - they are right on the edge of the main square so that is nice.

Lovely castle to visit - Schloss Bruck, with a cafe. The castle has some paintings of a local artist Albin Egger-Lienz - some of his paintings are in museums in Vienna so while he is not famous he is still well thought of I think.

P.S.
At the start of the 111 is the lovely village of Kartitsch - just seen photos. The 111 is narrow and windy until you get to Kotschach-Mauthen - nice small town with a WW I museum and the Karnische Hauptkamm in front of it.

Thanks Gerry, I think Lienz makes perfect sense, it also happens to be mid-way point on the drive which is a bonus.
Good to know the parking is not difficult to find. I mention the town is on the bigger side, mainly for the reason it may be difficult to get back in the car quickly and I want to stay on schedule.
Think my wife will like visiting the shops on the main drag in a new country, so I think that settles it.
The Castle does look interesting but think we will settle for seeing it from afar in the interest of time.

To answer your question regarding the Austrian vignette: you'll need it for all the A-prefixed roads, so A10 and A11. The separate toll for the Karawanken Tunnel only covers the A11 from the last exit before the border to the tunnel, the rest of the A11 requires a vignette. The situation in Slovenia is practically identical - the toll covers the A2 from the tunnel to the first exit, after that you need a Slovenian vignette.

Thanks Dejan, good to know. Will make sure I get the vignette for both countries.

You may know this already but be careful estimating driving time on roads like the 100 or 110. It always takes longer than you think. You go through many little towns/villages where the posted speed limit is 50. Plus you will get the odd tractor doing pacing for a line of cars!

I think the name of my post trip report will be: "careful estimating time", this is a long planned drive but not even the longest drive for us on the trip. A little nervous about that but will take it in stride should we get delayed.
Think I will enjoy the stretch of country roads more than the highway even if slow moving.
Really not on a schedule for this drive. While I would like to get to Lake Bled in the afternoon hours to optimize our time there, if we don't arrive until evening it really does not have any negative affects

I feel like the title of my question is a little mis-leading.
I wasn't really thinking that a cute Austrian village could be much smaller than what we really probably want.
Ideally would either be somewhere so picturesque or scenic that it would be a shame not to stop and see it regardless of town size and/or places to eat or shop ; in the absence of such a place would be looking for a place like Lienz with a nice area to walk stroll by some shops, grab a bite to eat if hungry ; a good place to mainly break up the ride and stretch the legs and at least be able to say we did/saw something in Austria. Cute/Picturesque can be in the landscape views or the architecture in my mind.

Well you will have lovely views. I love the Lienzer Dolomiten. And I love looking up at the hillsides with the farmhouses so high you almost don't believe it. Enjoy the trip. The drive from Sillian to Lienz is also lovely.
