Apparently a developer has built a copy of Hallstadt in China. In all honestly, I don't know how to react - what do you all think?
Leave it to the Chinese!! I can top that.. Our Chinese neighbors remodeled their home with an addition that closely resembles the Bin Laden compound in Abottobad!! I only wished it looked like Hallstatt... Our neighborhood will never be the same! Ugh!!!!
I hate to sound jingoistic, but if it means the asians will go there insteand of to Hallstatt, I'm all for it.
Why not. I was informed that a lot of Vienna and St. Petersburg were built as "copies" of Paris.
I haven't seen it, but isn't there a replica of the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas?
I think Hallstadt is a beautiful place, so why not. Right away my thoughts were that it had to be much better than the replica of the Eiffel Tower and lame "French Streets" in the Las Vegas' casino. So, Norma, you're not missing anything! : )
What's that line about imitation and flatery?
What do I think? Looks pretty nice. I'd visit if I was nearby. Seems like a similar idea to Levenworth, Washington. I'd obviously prefer the real Alps, but these substitutes will do in a pinch.
There's an imitation Eiffel Tower, and a lot of other imitations in Vegas. It is so over-the-top kitsch that it's fun. . . Like Disneyland.
"over the top kitsch"....how true in Vagas!
Like Midway, Utah - just south of Park City and Deer Valley Resort. Nice, quaint town founded by Swiss settlers. Most of the architecture throughout the town is Swiss style.
The back side of Mount Timpanogos (where Sundance is located) does remind of Alpine scenes.
