I walked from the train station to the old town, stopping at Mirabellplatz on the way. It was an easy walk, but I wasn't carrying luggage. Most of the buses in Salzburg go down Rainierstrasse from the Hbf to the old town.

You can find the schematic map of transport in Salzburg by going to this webpage and clicking on the first square, Liniennetzplan. It looks like Mirabellplatz is a hub for your travel, because Goldenes Theater is a ways out of town, in Schallmoos, and the buses to/from there connect at Mirabellplatz with the buses from the Hauptbahnhof to the old town and the fortress.

To get from your hotel, take one of many buses to Mirabellplatz, then change to Obus (which might be a tram) 4, to Langwied or Mayrweis. It looks like your hotel is between two stops, Hofwirt and Grillparzerstr.

its all on their webpage you did use their webpage to book it after your last question just read the first page and then click on the find us button and follow the instructions and the map they provide they will tell you how to walk and how to ride and maybe you could consider a taxi but it may be too short for them so you should expect them to charge more

Now that you are in Europe, it will be easiest for you to get train info and tickets right at the train station. No more benefit to buying online, and you wouldn't use Rail Europe, because they don't have e-tickets for Austria. Don't forget to also use the Tourist Information office in each city to get a map and other directions and advice. At Salzburg train station, you have lots of service available, including Tourist Information.

We stayed at Drei Kreuz which is further out from the old town and were able to walk to all the sights. We DID use a bus from/to rail station with bags.

FYI the funicular is a short (2 minute ?) ride up to the top of the hill and fortress. Check about the boat ride on the river -- was not running when we were there in October. But walking along the river is nice.
