Classical Music concerts in Salzburg 9/15-9/19

I will be in Salzburg a few nights before my My Way Alpine tour starts. Nights I have available are 9/17, 9/18, 9/19, Sun, Mon or Tues.

9/15 and 9/16 I will be jet lagged or having a full day’s excursion so don’t want to book an evening event on those two nights.

Are the concerts in the Mirabell Palace worth attending? I will eat dinner elsewhere. Or, how about the Fortress for concerts. It appears they include dinner.
I’m sad the Marionettetheater will be on vacation for the whole of September! I guess I need to return someday for that.

Also, I will definitely attend mass on Sunday morning at the Cathedral and will try to catch mid day music around town, if you have suggestions for that as well.
Please advise.

We went to a concert at Mirabelle Palace and it was fantastic!! I would highly recommend it. Reserve tickets ahead.

I saw a musical recital in the Mirabell Chapel and I liked it. I'm not a huge fan of classical music, but this was small and intimate and only an 1.5 hours.

I have also heard good things about the Fortress concerts.

I was disappointed in a regularly scheduled chamber concert in the Hohensalzburg Fortress I once attended. It felt more like a show put on for the tourists in Mozart's home town than a real concert for people who love classical music. I would recommend against it.

If you also be visiting Vienna, however, I strongly recommend the Wien Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera). That is superb.

Craig,

I won’t be going to Vienna on this trip. I attended a wonderful opera at the Staatsoper in Vienna the last time I was there, so fantastic!

I will go to a concert in the Mirabell Palace.

Thanks!
