Classical Concert Help

Will be in Vienna in mid October for 4 nights. We would like to attend a classical concert one evening.

My companion enjoys classical music but is visually impaired. I am not familiar with classical music but would enjoy a performance

We would not need front seats- rear cheaper seats are fine.

We are considering church concerts at either St Peters Church or Capuchin Chirch.

Which of the above would you recommend or would it be better to spend a bit more money and attend somewhere that has a full orchestra, singers and ballet dancers. Not interested in attending an opera.

We are planning on doing an evening Organ concert at St. Stephens

Appreciate any feedback- we are traveling Europe for 2 months so can’t splurge every where.

We are females in our late 60 and staying at Hotel Domizel near St Stephens

Thank you

Do check the schedule at the Musikverein. This venue is spectacular in itself and the cheaper seats are fine there!

You can check www.classictic.com for mid-October classical concerts in Vienna.
The Augustinerkirche, the parish church attached to the Hofburg Palace, dates back to the 1300’s and holds High Masses on Sundays at 11am during their regular church services. Featuring the classical music of the church’s orchestra and choir, the public is invited to attend while respecting that this is a religious service.

It depends a bit on how much of a classical music afficionado your companion is. There are plenty of concerts in churches etc, which have a beautiful atmosphere, but sometimes the standard of playing is not quite where it could be. Hence Janet's recommendation of checking the schedule at the Musikverein is a very good one. Personally I'd recommend the Vienna Philharmonic. I note in mid-Oct they have a several concerts at the Musikverein. Obviously then you also need to decide what works you'd like to hear.

I wanted to thank everyone for their feedback. We decided to do an evening organ concert at St Stephens Cathedral.
