City center hotels in Salzburg

Has anyone stayed in a city center hotel in Salzburg that they'd recommend for a family visit? We'll only be there a night or two, but would still prefer it to be relatively reasonable in price (having some character would be a plus!). Thanks in advance.

We stayed at the Cityhotel Trumer Stube last June and enjoyed it. We walked just about everywhere from the hotel. You can check it out http://trumer-stube.salzburgtophotels.com/en/. One caveat-there was no air conditioning in our room but a big window that we left open. Fortunately we were not on the street side of the hotel.

We were in Salzburg in Nov and stayed at Hotel am Mirabellplatz, which is across the street from Mirabell Gardens. Great location! Salzburg is very walkable.

When you say “family” how many people are you referring to? Family rooms can be very hard to find and expensive.

I’ve been to Salzburg several times with my kids for short stays. I can recommend Hotel Elefant, Hotel & Villa Auersperg and NH Collection Salzburg City. I prefer to stay in the area off of Linzer Gasse, which has a lot of restaurants, is a five minute walk across the bridge to the tourist area but which is calm and beautiful.

Another vote for Trumer Stube. We stayed there last September and the location was perfect, close proximity to old town sights but situated on a quiet side street. They also offer great breakfasts (can be included in room rate) so families can hit the ground running in the morning.

Emily, our family is two adults and two older teens... So we would like to squeeze in the same room if possible.

European hotels rarely have two double or queen beds. We have two kids and always end up booking two rooms. You might be lucky and find a hotel that has a family room.

We did Weisse Taube last June. Agree it was quaint - nice place. We had a family room. Location was excellent

Another vote for the Weisse Taube.

We also liked the Salzburg Card which you can purchase at the front desk. We saw so many more sites & popped into a few smaller museums we would have missed during our time there because of the purchased card.

Have a great time! We both love Salzburg!

Yet another vote for the Weisse Taube. We stayed there last month for a few days and absolutely loved it. We had 3 women in our room and it was just spacious enough for us. The location was ideal, and the staff were so helpful. I would stay there again in a heartbeat, FWIW.

Another vote for Weisse Taube but there were only two of us. Nice hotel, easy to walk to the sights we wanted to see. Very close to the Hohensalzburg Fortress . We did walk to the Mirabelle Palace,

When looking at hotels, I go to Google Maps. I click on the Hotels block at the top of the page and little bed icons pop up all over the map with a price. Click on the icons and their information and customer recommendations are available.

You can also go to Booking.com or Hotels.com.

Salzburg is one of those places where any accommodations are going to be very good--no matter the price point. The Austrians (and Germans) are incessantly clean for the most part..
