Christmas Holiday Anchors Near Salzburg

Now that we have decided to go to Salzburg over Rothenburg for next Christmas, I would love advice about where to stay. We would like to avoid getting a car and are traveling with our adult children, so would prefer a B&B or hotel with apartment option. We need to keep this budget friendly (under 200 Euros per night for all 4) as airfares are looking pretty pricey. We prefer village, quaint, or old town (if staying in the city) options. My research has led me to a few places just outside of town that have pools and other things to do in the snow. We are not a winter games type of family, we don't ski but would consider other fun things. Again all ideas welcome! Thank you.
