Christmas and snowboarding

I’ve done a lot of research on where to spend our Christmas holiday from Dec 21-31. We’d mainly want to go snowboarding every day and take lessons (we are beginners) but I think we also want to enjoy a European Christmas atmosphere since we've never been to Europe during the holidays. So we are thinking Austria would be great. We’ve looked at Seefeld which looks lovely but might not have enough snow? And also at Obergurgl which is a bit more snowsure but maybe not as quaint. What would be the best area for us to get in some good days on the slopes with guaranteed snow but also enjoy a festive village? We’d probably stick to beginner/intermediate slopes only if that makes any difference and spend 7-8 days snowboarding and maybe a couple sightseeing.

You might want something that has a glacier to be snow sure. Soelden, below Obergurgl has access to a glacier. In fact they have a World Cup ski event there in October. Another is Mayrhofen/Hintertux, which has the Hintertuxer Glacier to ski on. And Zell-am-See with the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier.

Glaciers open to skiing are generally gentle slopes, but can get crowded if the other slopes are short on snow.

Skiing is big business in Austria, and the reputation, well deserved, is Party with a capital P.

St Anton is another good spot, easy to get to right on the main Zurich-Vienna rail line. Skiing as a winter sport was basically invented there. Yes, plenty of snowboarders as well.
