Choosing between two Vienna accommodations

This is a pretty specific question but we're findng it very hard to choose. One is an Airbnb on Bergstrasse: interesting, vibrant neighbourhood but reviewers mention some noise. The other is on Doroteengasse, more expensive, closer to major sites, but quiet. But what is it like around there? Good cafes and restaurants? We'll be there for 10 days and I'm thinking that proximity to major sites is more important than the actual neighbourhood. and quiet better than coping with earplugs (I'm a light sleepr). But It's really hard to decide, so I'll appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

There is no Bergstrasse in Vienna. Do you mean Berggasse? If yes, where on Berggasse?

Also, there is no Doroteengasse. Do you mean Dorotheergasse?

... thinking that proximity to major sites is more important than ...

It is not; as you can't do all the sights by walking, you should get acquainted with public transport in Vienna, which is everywhere and easy to use. Choose your accommodation according to your needs (e.g. no noise).

So sorry, I wrote hastily: You're right, Emily, it's Doroteergasse, the other on Burggasse. I didn't include some information which perhaps I should have. We're in our '80s, which in itself doesn't mean much (for example, we're coming to Vienna after hiking in Tyrol), but in addition I have a health condition that necessitates a rest in the afrternoons. I cam sometimes do it on a park bench but it's helpful to know I can get back to our accommodation. I know that Vienna's public transportation is quick and eficient, but it adds another step. The Burggasse place is only 20-25 minutes away by foot but adding that up 4x/day along with all the sightseeing is a bit much. So, all these factors count. I'm thinking maybe of splitting our stay up and trying to bunch all the central stuff on the days when we're staying closest.

Hi again. Burggasse is the most desirable street in the entire city. Full of great restaurants (Ulrich, Erich) and my favorite bakery (Γ„hrnst) as well as great shopping. The 48a bus is also right there.

Dorotheergasse is in the staid first district bordering tourist central. Just lots of touristy stuff there, to be honest.

I'd much rather stay on Burggasse.

For what is it worth, my parents, both in their 80s, come frequently to Vienna and stay a similar distance to the city center. They love it and always feel more integrated.

These two places are literally minutes apart by public transport. Not worth the hassle of relocating, in my opinion. Vienna is not that big.
