ČD (Czech Railways) vs ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways)

Hi all

My family will be traveling via train from Vienna to Prague for a weekend. We noticed that there are various options for the same train. From my quick research, ČD and ÖBB both sell tickets for the same exact train with ČD being much cheaper.

Has anyone had experience with buying via ČD? Any reason not to go with the more affordable tickets? It seems that you can still select seats and there are not different cars based on ČD vs OBB.

Thanks for any guidance

Buying tickets directly from the Czech National rail company’s website will give you the least expensive price for international train tickets. International trains to and from the Czech Republic and Austria and Germany really are bargains on the CD website. And the Ceske Drahy website has an English option and is easy to use. www.CD.cz

I recently traveled into, out of and within the Czech Republic. All via train. I bought all my tickets on the CD app.

It couldn't have been easier. I had no problems. Everythng was in English.

Thanks, all

We were able to book through the ČD website (yes, in English) and secured tickets that were 1/2 price of OBB!
