I am travelling to Austria for a about 3 days. I will be arriving in Salzburg at noon and was thinking of exploring Salzburg on the same day. Then explore Hallstat on Day 2 and then drive to Vienna on Day 3.

You do not need a car. In fact, it will be a hindrance. As shared above, bus/train to Hallstatt. Train the Vienna.
I concur with the above suggestions. A car just takes more time and creates excessive stress. I drove to Hallstat in low season during Covid. Guess what? There was a line to enter parking lots. I cannot imagine what it is like these days.
