My wife and I while in Innsbruck this summer would like to experience the Alps close-up by taking a cable car to a high summit. We are familiar with the Nordkette Cable Car but would like other suggestions. We would appreciate knowing which cable car rides, within a 90 minute drive from Innsbruck, are the most dramatic, highest, scenic and offer the best views of nearby peaks. Any experiences you may have had, suggestions and information you can share would be appreciated. Thank you.

With a car, we love staying at the Gasthof Badl in nearby Hall in Tirol. We have stayed here 5 times, 18 nights, so far.
OK, within 90 minutes. The Italian Dolomites are within 90 minutes drive. Like nothing else in the Alps and truly spectacular. Drive directly to Ortisei in the Val Gardena and hop on a cable car. Easy drive. Here, if interested in a spectacular alpine drive, the Gardena Pass is possibly the most scenic alpine pass around. Our favorite.
