Bundesmuseen Museum Pass worth it?

Hi all,

We're doing 3 days in Vienna and would like to see the major landmarks and museums. Is it recommended to purchase a Bundesmuseen ticket for EUR 66? I can only choose one landmark/museum per group listed below. I figured, even if I don't get to visit one from each group, the savings might be worth it? Would greatly appreciate your thoughts.

Group 1: Albertina or Albertina Modern

Group 2: Upper Belvedere or Lower Belvedere or Belvedere 21

Group 3: Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna or New Hofburg or Imperial Treasury or Imperial wagon castle or Theater museum or Ambras Castle Innsbruck

Group 4: MAK or Geymüller keys

Group 5: MUMOK

Group 6: Natural History Museum Vienna or Fool's Tower

Group 7: State Hall of the Austrian National Library or Literature Museum or Papyrus Museum or Globe and Esperanto Museum or House of History Austria

Group 8: Technical Museum Vienna

For a three day visit for an art/museum appreciator, I would visit the following museums from the list above - Belvedere, Kunsthistoriches, National Library. For someone who is a major art/museum lover, I would add the Albertina, MAK and the wagon museum. So maybe it is worth it for the major lovers.

Several of what I consider the best museums are not on this list - Wien Museum (currently free and newly reopened), Leopold Museum and the Vienna Transportation Museum. Of course, the Schonbrunn Palace is an absolute must.

All of this said, while Vienna has great museums, I do not recommend that you lock yourself in museums all day during your visit. My favorite things to do in Vienna are not museum related. These things include a vineyard hike on Kahlenberg or through Stammersdorf. Renting a motorboat and puttering around the Alte Donau. Having cake and coffee in a non-touristy cafe. Visiting the Burggarten and Volksgarten.

Overall, I think you just figure out what you want to see, not based on this special ticket, and then decide what makes math sense.

Will consider your suggestions. It looks like the Bundesmuseen ticket is worth its value since four museums totals to EUR 66 already.

I actually only considered this because it doesn't restrict us from choosing a timeslot to enter a specific museum. Purchasing the Upper Belvedere ticket separately requires me to choose the time. With this, we're free to walk-in anytime we want.
