Bratislava or Wachau valley day trip from Vienna?

Hi everyone! We (couple in early 30s) are visiting Vienna this May and have 1 extra day to do a day trip. Would you suggest a day trip to Bratislava or the Wachau valley? We absolutely love boat rides and prefer nature over art/museums. Our favorite day in our last Europe trip was the boat ride from Interlaken to Thun. Therefore we are more inclined to take the Wachau valley trip. But would love to know experiences of the boat ride to Wachau and what else to visit on the trip. Or if someone recommends to visit Bratislava instead. We would want to use public transport or walking everywhere (and not self drive). Thank you!

We did a day trip from Vienna to Bratislava recently and loved it, but I think based on what you're saying it may not be right for you. It's a (small) city, with an impressive castle/museum and some nice shops.and cafes. We are city people and we like museums, so it suited us, and it is a short trip from Vienna by train. The city itself is easily walkable and very pleasant.

I haven't been to the Wachau Valley, but it sounds like it might be a better option for you of you like nature over museums.

If you do decide to go to the Wachau tour (I would recommend it), check out the OBB Wachau Valley ticket. You get a train ticket to and from Vienna, entrance to the Abbey, and the boat ride. It was beautiful!
By the way, I’m 65 and had no problem with this trip.

Wachau. Bratislava is...nice, but an easy 2nd place to the Wachau Valley.

It depends on the weather. If it's a clear day, Wachau. If it's rainy, then Bratislava.
