Booking train Munich to Salzburg

Hello,
I am meeting my daughter at the Munich airport in June and the we need a train to Salzburg from there.
Any tips on planning this leg(s) of our journey?

Should we buy tickets in advance and make changes to the timing if needed (if flight delayed) or can we purchase day of for Munich to Salzburg?

Will we need to travel from Munich airport to the city and then get a train to Salzburg, or is there a train from the Munich airport to Salzburg?

Is there a recommended shuttle company to drive us instead of doing the train?

Thank you!!

No direct train from Munich airport to Salzburg, but also no need to book ahead, You can just buy a 2-person Bayern Ticket for 44 EUR out of a ticket machine at the airport train station. Then you take the S-Bahn into Munich and change to a regional train to Salzburg.

Both the S1 and S8 go into Munich by different routes, alternating every 10 minutes. The S1 approaches central Munich from the west and stops at Munich Hbf, where you can get the hourly regional train. The S8 approaches central Munich from the east, so you can get off at Munich Ostbahnhof and catch the regional train there.

The Bayern Tickets is only valid after 9 am week days (any time weekends), so if she lands early, clears immigration, and gets luggage before 9, just cool your heals at a coffee shop until then.
