B Of Munich, Salzburg, Vienna 8 day tour

It would be on day 4, but as I recall the SOM tour time didn’t quite work for our free afternoon, so we didn’t do it. But our RS guide took us to the gazebo, and Mirabelle Gardens, and we walked past Residenz Fountain multiple times while in Salzburg. I think sometimes the RS guide stops by the cathedral in Mangasee on the way into Salzburg, but our guide opted for us to do an alpine slide activity instead. You can call the RS office to find out exactly what time you’ll finish up your activities for the day to see if a SOM tour would work.

As I recall, that was a very nice/fun day on the tour. Then in the afternoon on our own, we explored the city and the fortress and we walked up the hill to the actual abbey, (Stifft Nonnberg) which was very quiet and definitely wouldn't be on any tour. I had wanted to go over to the hotel (Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron) which served as the Von Trapp residence in the movie, but it was a very hot day; a seemingly very long walk and back then uber wasn't so much of a thing; so we didn't attempt. (Google maps shows it as a 25 min walk but after a full day in over 90 degree heat, it seemed impossible!) I've heard the SOM tour isn't allowed to go there and you actually stop on the other side of the lake to look from afar.
