Average Monthly Temperatures - Vienna or Salzburg

Hello All:

  1. Curious if anyone lives in Vienna or Salzburg and have thoughts about the normal weather in these cities in February and November - believe Emily lives in Vienna? Wouldn't have to be exact temperatures, just how you feel it is.

  2. Anyone found a good site that shows average monthly temperatures, hours of sun, etc. in European cities?

Thanks for any help.

I use this site because it also gives the average number of days of rain and also the quantity of rain which is important for a person from Seattle! It can toggle between Centigrade & Fahrenheit for temps.

I usually Google and compare a couple of sites for the upcoming 10-day forecast when I’m getting close to the day of travel, too.

Well, it’s February now and I’m in Vienna. We are having an unusual warm stretch right now. Very weird. Normally February is lots of snow and freezing temps. I hate it. In November, winter is just starting so might have better chances for warmth. But it also could snow. Later November means Christmas markets. Not much going on here in February except praying for spring.

Great site Jean.

Thanks Emily. I have experienced Vienna from Christmas to about mid January a few times and it is very cold, about a week in there that is really harsh for me. Nice to get your thoughts on those other months.

I don't find monthly averages very helpful at all except for determining whether City A might be colder than City B. Averages hide extremes, and it's usually the extremes you're worried about. I'm also concerned about what time period those averages cover. I've noticed that the weather-summary charts on cities' Wikipedia pages are based on a period that cuts off in 2010. weather seems to have gotten a lot stranger since 2010.

I am now using timeanddate.com to review actual day-by-day weather statistics. The information goes back about ten years, and I usually look at the last five or so. I've linked to Vienna's data for November 2018.

Thanks to you both. And Bob, no trip now. Just the planning stages which I enjoy very much!
